We now have Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines available for the following groups of children:
- Ages 6 months to 4 years
- Ages 5 years through 11 years, including booster doses
(Children ages 12 and up can get their COVID-19 vaccines at most pharmacies.)
For children ages 6 months through 4 years, it is a 3-dose series - the 2nd dose given 3-8 weeks after the first; the 3rd dose is given at least 8 weeks after the 2nd dose. Initial study data show that with this series, children have a reduced chance of illness from COVID-19 and develop an antibody response similar to that seen in older children and adults. Fever was less common than with older children.
Children aged 5 through 11 years can now get a booster dose, provided 2 months has passed since the 2nd dose.
If you are interested in your child receiving a COVID-19 vaccination, please call to schedule.
